110 Years of Innovation
Deuter was founded in 1898, in a very different era. To celebrate its 110th birthday In 2008, the backpack specialists have released a limited edition “110 Collection” – with all the very latest features, naturally.
Deuter is the world’s oldest German backpack brand and in 2008 they are set to celebrate their 110th anniversary. There are still records of the very first backpacks, satchels and bags in the original order books. The first major order was placed by the postal service for all their mailbags. When Anderl Heckmaier made the first ascent of the North Face of the Eiger, in 1938, Deuter were close by – on his back. And when Herman Buhl made the first ascent of Nanga Parbat in 1953... That is what you call tradition.
For its 110th anniversary, Deuter is launching a special limited edition “Anniversary Series“, featuring the old Deuter logos from 1938 and 1953.
The series has been developed as a lightweight series and excludes details such as a base compartment, rain cover or side pockets. Other vital aspects have not been left out, however. Deuter’s tried and tested back system, their durable 210 Denier rip-stop material, a front gear flap, mesh side pockets and a spacious lid compartment are all there.
The Trans Zero 20 is a bike backpack featuring the legendary Airstripes back system and weighing in at only 750 gms for 20 litres of capacity.
The Futura Zero 30 pays tribute to the world’s first backpack to have a ventilated mesh back and is kitted out with the very latest version of the famous Aircomfort system.
For those looking for a true mountain backpack, there is the ACT Zero 40+10 with the Aircontact Lite back system, weighing only 1.3kg.
This special collection is rounded off by a Dream Zero sleeping bag in matching colours.
The limited production numbers of these anniversary editions in Titan/fire colours is sure to make them the ultimate outdoor collectors’ items.
